Melanie Amaro,19 was ‘speechless’ last night as she took home the grand prize on The X Factor, a $5 million recording contract and a Pepsi commercial.
“I feel fantastic. It hasn’t hit me yet, but I guarantee it will hit me pretty soon,†she told Access on Thursday night after scoring the big prize — a $5 million recording contract. “It feels so surreal. It’s like I’m dreaming. I feel like I’m in a dream a sweet, sweet dream!â€
“Thank God I had so many supporters supporting me. I love you guys. Thank you so much for voting and putting me in this position. I love you all so very much,†she gushed. “It’s so good to know that so many people are supporting me right now and they’re so happy for me, that makes me feel amazing!â€
Melanie — who was mentored by Simon Cowell — said the moment when host Steve Jones announced she had won the competition left her stunned.
“I was so speechless. I was overwhelmed. I didn’t know what to say ‘cause that just brought me to an all time high. My grandma from the Virgin Islands was on there. I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s my grandma! That’s my best friend, family, brothers.’ it was like, ‘Oh my God!’ It was crazy,†she recalled.
