Cheryl Cole is officially out as a judge on The X Factor and Nicole Scherzinger is in!! Just a few days ago we thought Cheryl may make a return to the show even though there was a battle for money and now we have it officially she is done on the show!
According to Deadline,
FOX, FREMANTLEMEDIA NORTH AMERICA AND SYCO TV today confirm Nicole Scherzinger will be replacing Cheryl Cole on the judging panel of THE X FACTOR. Nicole will join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul on their search across America to find the next global superstar or group to win the life-changing $5 million dollar recording deal. Nicole has previously joined Simon Cowell as a guest judge on The X Factor for the UK version of the show in 2010. Steve Jones will act as sole host of THE X FACTOR.
Cheryl Cole was allegedly dropped because she lacked chemistry with Paula Abdul and that Cheryl was bought out of her contract (via THR)!
According to a high-level industry source, after engaging in some legal brinksmanship the powers behind the show have concluded that it’s best to pay Cole the reported $1.5 million she was owed under her contract and say goodbye.
The source says it was clear that the chemistry wasn’t working among the judges from the start and that Cole lacked chemistry with Paula Abdul.“There was no spark,” this source says. “It was nobody’s fault. It just didn’t work.” The source believes that it was Simon Cowell who concluded that a change was necessary.
