Legendary radio star and voice of Shaggy in Scooby Doo, Casey Kasem has died at age 82. His daughter, Kerri confirmed the news on Facebook, “Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad.”

Kasem’s children from his first marriage Kerri, Mike and Julie and his wife, Jean Kasem (They share one daughter, Liberty) had an on-going court battle over the health of their father who had advanced Lewy body disease, a form of Alzhemiers and Parkinsons. It was just this week that the children had been given the right to withhold food and water from Kasem as per his final wishes. The children had accused Jean of withholding access their to their father and removing him from a nursing home in California to Washington without their knowledge and his daughter Kerri was given temporary power of attorney.

It’s just so sad his last days couldn’t have been more peaceful.
