Teresa Giudice will have to serve 15 months in prison after pleading guilty on fraud charges earlier this year. The Real Housewives star was sentenced today after Judge Esther Salas decided that she believed Teresa needs to learn to respect the law. “For a moment I thought about probation … but I think a period of confinement is absolutely necessary in this case. I don’t honestly believe that you understand or respect the law. I need to send a message. In the eyes of the law it doesn’t matter who you are. There are consequences to pay.”
Teresa tearfully read a letter in court taking responsibility for her actions. “I fully take responsibility for my actions. I deeply love my family… My four daughters are my life. I wrote this last night because I knew I was going to be nervous… I’m scared, I’m not going to deny it, I’m really scared. I have heard you. I need to live to do things for myself. It’s time for me to wake up… I will make this right no matter what it takes.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star will begin her sentence on Jan. 5. Both will have to pay Wells Fargo $414,588 in restitution.
Teresa’s husband, Joe was sentenced to 41 months earlier in the day.
