Ummm ok so the new Spider-man is going to be…Andrew Garfield…who? Exactly what everyone else thought…who! Is it a risk to cast an unknown actor and can you even see past Toby Maguire as Spider-man!
According to the Insider,
After a worldwide casting search, Columbia Pictures has announced that 26-year-old Andrew Garfield will play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spidey’s next big-screen adventure, which goes into production in early December and swings into theaters in 3D on July 3, 2012.
“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker,” says director Marc Webb, who succeeds Sam Raimi in helming the blockbuster franchise.
Garfield’s big-screen credits include ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ and ‘Lions for Lambs.’ He most recently worked with director David Fincher on ‘The Social Network,’ and he also plays the lead male opposite Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in ‘Never Let Me Go,’ expected out later this year.
