Universal Celebrates "The Mummy Day" with 75-Foot Sarcophagus Takeover at Hollywood & Highland

Tom Cruise may be promoting his new flick, The Mummy, but the A-lister has a new movie on the horizon with a Top Gun sequel. Yes, Top Gun will get a sequel, a full 30 years after the original hit the big screen and made Tom a bonafide star. “It is definitely happening,” Tom told Australian morning show Sunrise this week. “It’s true. It’s true. I’m going to start filming it probably in the next year. I know. It’s happening. It is definitely happening … you’re the first people that I’ve said this to.”

In early 2016 producer Jerry Bruckheimer teased the reboot or rather sequel of the classic 1986 movie with a simple tweet, “Just got back from a weekend in New Orleans to see my old friend Tom Cruise and discuss a little Top Gun 2.” And then this year Val Kilmer all but confirmed the news of the movie in a Reddit Q&A where he gushed at the chance to return to the fighter pilot flick.  “Hell yes,” he said when asked if he would come back, “and what a hoot it will be.”

So will the movie pick up 30 years later or will the story pick up with his kid?
