The pressure must have gotten to Zendaya and she dropped out of the controversial biopic on the life of the late R&B singer, Aaliyah. Zendaya’s rep told E!News, “Zendaya is no longer involved in the project.” The Lifetime movie Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B (working title) was set to begin filming thus summer and premiere in the fall.
Zendaya’s twitter account confirmed the news writing, “Aaliyah has always been a source of inspiration to Zendaya. She was honored to portray her and pay tribute to her. If she is going to do it, she wants to do it right.” Lifetime added, “We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah. Production is currently on hold.”
