Cheryl Boone Isaacs finally addressed the boycott that has been circulating Hollywood for the past few days after Jada Pinkett Smith called for a boycott of the show following a lack of diversity in the Oscar race. Isaacs, the Academy president agreed on Smith’s stance and “heartbroken and frustrated about the lack of inclusion.” Smith thanked her for her words, “I would like to express my gratitude to the Academy, specifically Cheryl Boone Isaacs for such a quick response in regard to the issue at hand. I look forward to the future.”

In other news…Spike Lee says he never said he was boycotting the show…but will skip it! And Tyrese has asked Chris Rock to step down as host! “Here’s the thing, I have never used the word boycott,” director Spike Lee said on Good Morning America’. Even Lupita Nyong’o an Oscar winner herself  was disappointed in the ‘unconscious prejudice’ in the Academy.

I think we need to call for a more diverse Academy not a boycott. I wouldn’t want to take away from the brilliant performances nominated this year!
