Oprah and Mariah Carey will not make an appearance on Empire…at least not this season. “None of those people are going to actually be on the show so I can’t control what names all of a sudden take off as being guest stars because they’re not,” co-creator and executive producer Danny Strong told The Hollywood Reporter at Fox’s winter press tour party.
Lee Daniels had reached out to Oprah and even said she would may an appearance on the show, but it never materialized. But he later told Vanity Fair there was a schedule conflict! “We just couldn’t fit her into the schedule. She really wanted to do the show, but she’s going to be on next season for sure.”
