Really suave, charming, handsome Idris Elba is too ‘street’ to play James Bond? Who said that? Well it was the new James Bond writer Anthony Horowitz, who penned, “Trigger Mortis”. After telling the Daily Mail that Elba was too ‘street’ to play Bond. “Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better. For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”

Some…ok—a lot of people think the dig is because Elba is black! But Horowitz did name another actor he would like to see play Bond, British actor Adrian Lester, who is also black.

Horowitz has since apologized.

But you know what people want to see a black James Bond and they want Idris!
