American Idol almost booted Mariah Carey in an effort to get fan favorite Jennifer Lopez back on the show after a steep decline in ratings a source told THR, but Mariah threatened legal action. But “This is just another ridiculous Idol judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale,” a Fox spokeswoman told THR in a statement and Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe added, “I have not been included in any conversation regarding replacing Mariah with Jen this season.”A rep for Carey denies these allegations, but a source goes on to say that Mariah is too’ passive and disengaged in her comments on the show.”
On the other hand Nicki Minaj is fairing any better with audiences as Idol’s core Midwestern audience thinks she is too aggressive. So it may be back to the drawing board with the judging panel next season!
